I was approached in early 2017 by Suzi Dent, a dynamic 55-year-old first-time beauty pageant entrant.

Suzi, a celebrated film and television hair and make-up artist of close to 35 years at the time, had been approached to enter the Mrs Earth Australia pageant in 2017, and decided to trade her baggy shirts and sneakers for gowns and high-heels, and give the pageant a go. Much to Suzi’s disbelief, she was crowned Mrs Earth Australia 2017 and as result, was given the opportunity to compete for the international title of Mrs Earth in Las Vegas in June 2017.

Suzi contacted me at 5am AEST to excitedly advise that she had placed third overall, and been given the title of Mrs Earth Health 2017!

I saw an opportunity in this news and coined the headline: AUSTRALIA’S OLDEST BEAUTY QUEEN SUZI DENT PLACES THIRD OVERALL AT MRS EARTH 2017 IN LAS VEGAS

I thought it was a strong hook, but boy! The response from the media was nothing short of epic. I had both local, national and international TV, magazines, radio and newspapers all fighting for a piece of Suzi.

I literally had to clear my books for a solid two weeks to handle the media demand for Suzi!

Suzi has gone on to carve out a career as a successful author, MC and motivational speaker and women’s rights advocate!
